Malbec has been a part of Nostalgia's Wine Club portfolio since 2013. We source this unique varietal from Gablemann Vineyards in Oliver. This vineyard is very steep, terraced, and has full sun exposure which allows the Malbec to ripen earlier than most of our other varietals during harvest. All six of these wines offered are from this vineyard, giving this a perfect example of what a single terroir can offer in different vintages. 

In this set of six bottles, you will receive the following Malbec vintages:

2016 Malbec - An Oliver Twist label -  The 2016 vintage was an unusually hot spring that led to an early and vigorous growing season. Cooler summer temperatures allowed the fruit to develop flavour complexity, moderate alcohol and natural acidity - making this an excellent vintage. A luscious combination of jammy black fruits, cocoa, coffee, vanilla and a lingering violet finish. Aged in French Oak for 16 months, and only 75 cases produced. 

2017 Malbec - An Oliver Twist label -  2017 had slightly lower yields and phenomenal fruit quality, characterized by high flavour concentration, balanced tannins, complexity and natural acidity. This full-bodied wine offers ripe smooth tannins and fresh acidity with generous black cherry, black currant, raisin and dark chocolate notes. Aged in French Oak for 16 months, and only 56 cases produced. 

2018 Malbec - 2018 vintage was one of freshness and elegance with slightly cooler temperatures, bringing out vibrant acidity and intense fruit character. The full-bodied wine offers ripe, firm tannins, and fresh acidity wth generous black cherry, boysenberry, blackberry, vanilla and cloves. Aged in French Oak for 15 months, and only 53 cases produced. 

2020 Malbec - The low yields and excellent fruit quality resulted in an exceptional 2020 vintage. The wines have intense flavour profiles, higher acidity and moderate alcohol levels. Another dark, bold Malbec with intense notes of blackberry jam, stewed prune, goji berries, and a delicate floral parfume. Aged in French Oak for 15 months, and only 40 cases produced.

2021 Malbec - This vintage had a reduced yield due to the 2021 heat dome, resulting in an intensely flavourful harvest. A dark, bold Malbec with intense notes of blackberry, Kirsch plum, cherry and baking spices. Aged in French Oak for 18 months, and 121 cases produced. 

2022 Malbec - Nostalgia Family Collection - 2022 was a cool start, it enjoyed blue skies throughout the growing season and the sunny warm days of late summer and early fall ushered in outstanding fruit quality. This dark, bold Malbec has intense notes of plum, cherry, heady spice and an appealing earthy note. Ripe tannins, generous black and red fruit with a long finish. Aged in French Oak for 19 months, and only 50 cases produced.
